UniAdvisor Admissions Desk·Last Verified: August 2026

JAMB Direct Entry (DE) allows eligible candidates with advanced qualifications (A-Levels, Diplomas, or Degrees) to gain admission directly into the second year (200 Level) or third year (for certain professional disciplines) of a Nigerian degree program without sitting for the standard UTME exam.

1. Accepted Advanced Qualifications

  • National Diploma (ND): Minimum of Upper Credit (or Lower Credit depending on university competitiveness) in a relevant discipline.
  • Higher National Diploma (HND): Minimum of Lower Credit in a relevant field.
  • Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE): Minimum of Merit pass in 2 major subjects for Education faculties.
  • Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB) & JUPEB: Minimum points cutoff (typically 8 to 14 points depending on course).
  • Cambridge / GCE Advanced Level (A-Level): Passes in 2 or 3 relevant subjects.

2. Mandatory O'Level Baseline Requirements

Direct Entry candidates must still possess the baseline 5 O'Level credit passes (including English Language and Mathematics) in relevant subjects at not more than two sittings (or one sitting for restricted clinical programs).

3. Direct Entry Verification & Transcript Submission

During registration, Direct Entry candidates must upload their certificates/statement of results on the JAMB portal and instruct their graduating institution to forward official academic transcripts directly to the registrar of their chosen target university.
